What's Happening: August 13, 2017

Vinnie’s Pizzeria will do all the cooking – featuring Vinnie’s famous meatballs – as a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the Mingus Union High School football team, Tuesday, Aug. 15, 5:30-8 p.m., at the Mingus Union High School Cafeteria, 1801 E Fir St., Cottonwood. Vinnie graciously donates this food – he hand makes 1000 meatballs -- and last year the team made over $2000 profit! What's Happening: August 4, 2017

On August 8 come hear Stephen Scott of Underwood Gardens in Chino Valley, explain how sowing a cover crop in the late summer/early fall will help build your garden soil. Stephen reports that they’ve seen tremendous results with bindweed and morning glory – both with their raised beds and with customers reports, so this should be valuable info! What's Happening: July 19, 2017

The flags retired from the park on Memorial Day weekend were offered through mail-in bids. The winning bidders were Tom Hurkett from Minerals Research, Inc. for the United States Flag, Jody White from Northern Arizona Construction Services for the U.S. Navy flag, Milton Cruver for the U.S. Marine Corps flag, Joni Cruver for the U.S. Coast Guard flag, and Terrie Frankel for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army flags. They were presented with Certificates of Authenticity, attesting that the flags flew over the Park from Veterans Day 11/11/2015 to Memorial Day 5/27/2017.

What's Happening: July 9, 2017

Skip on over to the Cottonwood Elementary School gymnasium for the Cottonwood Contra Dance on Saturday, July 15th.  The gymnasium is in the back of the school complex at 301 N. Willard St.  Michael Barraclough will teach and call the dances to the tunes of Just Desserts, Flagstaff’s open house band.  Don’t miss the lesson at 6:30 and then dance until 10pm.  Wear comfortable clothes; no partner is necessary.
