Think back to your childhood. Who was the special person who showed you the Big Dipper for the first time? Or took you to your first ball game? Or taught you how to fly a kite?
It's often the simple things in life that form our favorite memories. Yet it isn't until we are grown that we realize how these moments transformed our lives and made us who we are.
By becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister, you can make a difference in the life of a child - simply by listening, encouraging and just being there.
Alexandra is an 11-year-old girl with a big smile and a great personality. She will be attending middle school in the fall.
She lives with her parents and younger brother. According to Alexandra, she and her brother sometimes argue and have been bored this summer.
Alexandra is extremely sports-oriented. An athlete, she plays basketball, soccer and softball. She also enjoys swimming. Alexandra likes to read. She makes friends easily and has several close friends that she has known since second grade.
Alexandra would like a Big Sister to hang out and do fun things with. According to her mom, a Big Sister would help Alexandra "bloom" and feel more comfortable with herself.
She also hopes that a Big Sister would be someone that Alexandra could learn from and share new experiences with.
