Arizona 89A from Cottonwood to Sedona to be closed<br>

Arizona 89A between Sedona and Cottonwood will be closed for night blasting Aug. 3-4 from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.

The closure will begin at Page Springs Road on the south end of the project and at Lower Red Rock loop Road on the north end.

Motorists heading to Sedona from Cottonwood, will be directed to the following detour:

• East on Arizona 260 toward Camp Verde

• North on interstate 17

• Exit on Arizona 179 and proceed north to Oak Creek Village and Sedona

Motorists traveling south from Sedona, toward Cottonwood, will be asked to take the reverse route. The detour will be indicated along the route with signs and changeable message boards.

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) and FNF, the general contractor, will remove large sections of rock and the road closure is necessary to safely move debris with the least impact to the traveling public. Blasting in this area will not affect Scheurman Mountain or the nearby hiking trail, according o Simeon Brubaker, resident engineer acting on behalf of ADOT.
