Jerome 300 Club to raise money for town clubs

Those service organizations include the Jerome Chamber of Commerce, Jerome Historical Society, Jerome Humane Society, Jerome Police Department, Jerome Volunteer Fire Department, and town projects.

The proceeds generated in the 300 Club program will be shared by the town’s service organizations, Alexander said.

According to his presentation, the program is designed to generate a total of $9,000, by selling 300 tickets for $30 each, with ticket holders having a possibility of winning a $300 raffle prize and having other benefits.

"The best part is that warm-and-fuzzy feeling you get from helping some group in Jerome," Alexander said.

Of each $30 ticket, $7 would go to the general kitty, including the $300 raffle prize. The proceeds, or $23 per ticket, would go to the nonprofit service organizations.

The portion received would be determined by an organization’s participation in the program, according to Alexander. The more tickets the group sells, the more proceeds it would receive.

The program also could help bring in money from outside the town, by selling the raffle tickets to people in surrounding areas, he added.

The program would be done during Spook Week in October, as well as at other times during the year.

Each ticket holder would receive a Miners Daze barbecue dinner; a Jerome 300 T-shirt; five opportunities to win a $300 drawing; 50 percent off several activities in Jerome; a tax deduction for contributing to nonprofit organizations; and "the satisfaction of being a contributor to the spirit and tradition of Jerome."

Resident Teri Rhodes said program events could include a chili cook-off in February, and similar activities during the year.

"(The events) would help to get back some of that festival atmosphere all year," she said.
