Police pursuit ends in Cornville suicide

Yavapai County Sheriff's Office reported that on June 28, at about 1:10 p.m., officers of the Sedona Police Department and the U.S. Forest Service became involved in a vehicle pursuit with Kevin R. Ellis, 24, of Prescott, that ended with Ellis committing suicide in Cornville.

According to deputies, Ellis was wanted for questioning by the Prescott Police Department for the alleged kidnapping of his live-in girlfriend's 2-year-old son. Deputies report that Sedona Police had located Ellis' truck on Forest Road 152 near Dry Creek Road near Sedona and pursued Ellis for 15 miles into Cornville, where police deployed tire puncturing devices and roadblocks.

Deputies report that when Ellis was finally detained, he allegedly shot himself in the head. According to deputies, the child was unharmed.
