Cottonwood Police Department reported the arrest of three people after a shooting incident Monday.
George Cobos Santos, 36, Theresia Hoffman, 38, and Daniel Kurt Spear, 35, all of Cottonwood, were taken into custody Jan. 5, at about 10 p.m., at a filling station located in the 800 block of Main St. in Cottonwood.
Santos faces charges of attempted second degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, endangerment and discharging a firearm in city limits. Spear was reportedly arrested on a valid felony warrant out of Michigan. Hoffman faces charges of providing false information to police.
According to the police report, officers responded to a report of shots fired and contacted Santos, who allegedly admitted to firing weapons at Spear after an altercation. Santos also allegedly told police that the weapons were located in a vehicle on the business premises.
Police report that the owner of the vehicle consented to a search in which police retrieved a loaded .357 semi-automatic pistol under the driver seat and a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol on the floor.
Police allege that Santos admitted firing four rounds from two handguns at Spear.
According to the report, Spear arrived at the business to give his friend, Hoffman, a ride home. Hoffman alleged that she was training Santos and both were intoxicated, according to police.
Santos and Spear reportedly had an altercation and Santos allegedly threatened and then fired at Spear, who fled. Police report that Hoffman denied any knowledge of the incident and was arrested. Police said Spear was hiding in a vacant lot near the business and made contact with officers, who observed a bullet fragment lodged in his right shoe.
According to the report, Spear called police from a nearby location and police alleged that a warrant check revealed Spear was wanted on a felony warrant in Michigan and was arrested. Officers allegedly retrieved shell casings at the scene.
