Cooking school offered

February

Cooking School being offered by the Camp Verde Seventh-day Adventist Church every Tuesday and Thursday in February (5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26 and 28) 6-7:30 p.m. Muriel Polk will be teaching delicious vegetarian recipes. Free prizes, food samples and recipes you won't want to miss. The last three nights (Feb. 21, 26 and 28) will focus on Diabetic Education with Carol Lawson, RN BSN including recipes and samples.

Partner yoga at Therapy by Design

Feb. 16

Yoga instructors Carol Oveross and Rosalie Malter will teach partner yoga from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Therapy By Design, 533 S. Main St., (Sawmill Village), Cottonwood. Practicing yoga with a partner is uplifting and fulfilling, and helps raise both people to new heights in their relationships. The movements and poses in Partner Yoga require 100 percent participation from two people. This well rounded practice can be done by anyone. Limited enrollment. Boy Scouts to serve breakfast

Feb. 2

Let the Boy Scouts of Troop 7193 serve you a hearty breakfast before you do your shopping or chores Saturday, Feb. 2, from 8 until 11 a.m. at Camp Verde United Methodist Church, First and Head streets. They will be serving a full menu including eggs to order, hash browns, choice of bacon, link sausage, ham, white or wheat toast, English muffins, pancakes, French toast, waffles, omelets or chicken fried steak w/biscuits & gravy. Meals are served with coffee, tea, milk, apple or orange juice for a $4 donation. Look for the signs at the church.

Sweet Heart Dance

Feb. 14

American Legion Post 25 at 480 Calvary Way, Cottonwood, is having a diner and dance for Valentine's Day. Dinner is from 5:30-7 p.m. Rio Verde band will be playing from 7:30-10 p.m. Tickets are $18.50 in the lounge or at the kitchen window. For members and guests.

Hound Playdate

Feb. 10

A Hound Playdate will be held at 2 p.m. at the Sedona Dog Park. This free event is open to any hound owners in the Verde Valley and surrounding areas. All types of hounds - bassets, beagles, blood hound, foxhounds, treeing walkers, coonhounds and hound mixes - are welcome. Other breeds are also welcome.

Old Timer's Dinner

Feb. 5

The Jerome Elks Lodge is hold its yearly Old Timer's Dinner and meeting to honor long-time members. Dinner will be roast beef, prepared by Sam and Phil Hess and will begin at 6 p.m., with the meeting beginning at 7 p.m. at 100 S. Broadway in Clarkdale.

'Between Fences' photo contest

March 31

The Clemenceau Heritage Museum is sponsoring a photo contest in conjunction with the Smithsonian traveling show, "Between Fences." It is open to all ages, amateurs and professionals. Deadline to enter is March 31, 2008. Detailed description and entry forms can be picked up at: the Public Libraries in Cottonwood, Camp Verde & Sedona; Clarkdale Town Hall; or the Chambers of Commerce in Cottonwood, Camp Verde and Jerome. Judging will be by The El Valle Artists Association and the photographs will be on exhibit at the Cottonwood Public Library from May 3 through June 15. There will be an award for Best in Show as well as awards for first, second and third places in each category.
