Three fighters with the Golden Cobra Gym in Camp Verde will be making their amateur debut

On Saturday, June 14 at 6 p.m., six fighters from the Golden Cobra Gym in Cottonwood will suit up for the Rumble on the Rez event.

There will be a total of 12 explosive kickboxing and MMA bouts (6 IKF kickboxing matches and six ISCF Mixed Martial Art Matches - featuring the top amateurs in the southwest.)

The event will feature three amateur fighters from the Golden Cobra Gym, "Merciless" George Montono, Jess Teague and Casey Kluver, each in their ISCF Mixed Martial Arts debut.

Training all three fighters in style and technique with jiu-jitsu and ground fighting is trainer Alvie Roach, who has eight years experience with mixed martial arts and was trained at the Extreme Fighting Academy in Alamosa, CO.

Miklo Lara, Amanda Honwytewa and Victor Romero, who have seen time in the ring, will also be fighting during the night's events, using their techniques as kickboxers.

The event is a sanctioned ISCF and IKF event sponsored by Golden Cobra and Yavapai-Apache Recreation. The event will be held at the gym in Middle Verde. The doors open at 5 p.m. and the event begins at 6 p.m.

Admission to the event: Adults are $15 (17 - up); Kids 5 - 16 are $7.50 and Children under 5-years-old are free. The proceeds will go to the gym for uniforms, travel and gym expenses.

The Middle Verde gym is located at 400 West Datsi Street in Camp Verde.

The Golden Cobra Gym is still in the process of becoming a non-profit and they are coming close to completing the restoration of the Boys and Girls Club of Cottonwood's basement into the Golden Cobra Fitness Center's new place to teach adults and kids about fitness, boxing and nutrition to name a few.

The Center is tentatively scheduled to be finished in two weeks. More information on that to follow as the owner and President, Richard Williams ties up the loose ends and is able to present this new and exciting fitness addition to the Verde Valley.
