Potential candidates for local school district governing boards still have time to get their names in the hat. Both Camp Verde Unified School District and Beaver Creek School have three seats up for grabs.
So far, two incumbents have filed to run for the Camp Verde board. Board President Tim Roth and current member Helen Freeman have filed committee paperwork, a necessary step, and are collecting petition signatures. The other seat coming open belongs to Rick Anderson.
The three open seats in Beaver Creek belong to Gereld Hardy, Miguel Hernandez and Board President Sheila Van Dyke. Only Hardy is running again (Van Dyke is moving), and the school already has two more candidates for the seats, Jeannette Estes and Diana Foltz.
According to the Yavapai County Education Service agency, the last day to file paperwork and return signed petitions is Aug. 8. District residents who want to vie for a school board seat can pull a packet of documents at the county education department.
