CAMP VERDE - For nine years, Pieh Tool Company has been the place to go in the Verde Valley for blacksmith and farrier, tools and supplies.

In a world where big box stores dominate the tool market landscape, Pieh Tool has survived and thrived by offering a well stocked inventory, customer education, uncompromising service, quality products and competitive prices.

If shoeing horses is your thing, they carry literally everything from shoes for a miniature horse, to shoes that would fit a horse dragging a beer wagon, to anvils, to furnaces, to leather aprons.

If you happen to like banging and shaping metal into everything from grape leaves to spoons, they have what you need -- tongs, swage blocks, chisels, punches and of course, hammers -- lots of hammers.

They even carry some oddball stuff like knife making and prospecting equipment, quality geology hammers, magnets for every occasion, and for the hard to shop for come Christmas (or if you are a blacksmith), sacks of coal.

Last fall owner Amy Pieh realized that most of her customers were into a lot of other things and that in the course of doing those things they used power tools.

"It just seemed like the direction we should be going," she says.

This month, Pieh Tool Company is expanding its line of products to include Milwaukee power tools, Jet industrial tools, which makes everything from bench grinders to computer-operated milling machines, and Wilton, makers of the only vises still made in America from American steel.

"I like Milwaukee tools because they are known for their quality, a lot of what they offer is still American made and I just happen to have been born in Milwaukee," says Pieh, "They have stuff I never realized, like cordless electric palm nailers and a cordless grease gun."

To let the world know about the major expansion, Pieh Toll Company is having an open house on Tuesday, May 22, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be free food, Milwaukee and Wilton will be giving away tools and other giveaways are planned.

Pieh Tool Company is located at 661 E, Howards Road, Suite J, just off State Route 260, east of the Verde River Bridge, in Camp Verde. Call (928) 554-0700 or visit their website www.piehtool.com for additional information.
