Camp Verde Town Council to discuss zoning of Distant Drums

CAMP VERDE - The Camp Verde Town Council will consider approving a new additional use permit for an acre of land located at the northwest corner of the Distant Drums RV Resort.

Resolution 2013-889, a resolution of the common council of the Town of Camp Verde, will be discussed at tonight's Town Council meeting. The 16.78-acre resort, owned by the Yavapai-Apache Nation and located at 583 W. Middle Verde Road, is considering several options for the acre of unused land, including:

• construction of a storage facility to be used by resort tenants and/or general public;

• construction of an array of solar panels to supplement the electrical supply needs of the resort;

• development of a multi-purpose building for group activities and meetings that are in addition to or are an overflow of activities in the central administrative building;

• installation of a park model units serving as individual overnight rental accommodations or overflow accommodations for RV guests who require additional space for their guests.

"We're good with any of these options, should the Council approve the resolution," says Michael Jenkins, Community Development Director for the Town of Camp Verde. "If approved, they [Yavapai-Apache Nation] still need permits and zoning clearance."

The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at Town Council chambers, 473 S Main St., Room 106.
