Charles Albert Mairet, "Pipestone Charlie," of Cottonwood passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014. He was 58 years old. He was born on August 19, 1955 in Davenport Iowa to Earl and Mary Mairet.
Charlie grew up in a musical family and learned to play guitar, piano and harp. He moved to Arizona in 1986, but never stopped missing his family.
Charlie lived a varied life, working in professions from housekeeping and construction to water purification and deep sea fishing, but his ultimate passion was as a carver and artist. He loved fishing, carving and spending time at the river.
"When we look around we will see him in the splendor of this valley in all of its beauty and in the tranquil river that he loved. He is in his art work; he is in each of us in our hearts."
Charlie was preceded in death by his son Dylan. He is survived by his mother, Mary of IA; his brother, Roger; his sister Julie; Bethany, whom he loved like a daughter, and his best friend and partner of over 25 years, Flory.
A celebration of Charlie's life will be held on Saturday, June 21th at 1310 E. Gila St., Cottonwood, AZ 86326 at 2 PM.
