Letter: College forum only presents one side of issue

Response to September 26th article "OLLI to present program by Sedona Verde Valley Red Rock National Monument Coalition"

I am very disappointed to see that Yavapai's OLLI program on Sept. 30 will only present ONE side of the SVVRR National Monument issue.

Currently, this debate has Sedona and the Verde Valley all a buzz trying to evaluate if the National monument is a "good thing."

This is a serious issue: Once a NM is designated we cannot go back if we don't like what it brings, we're stuck.

This is a two sided issue with a well-organized very public opposition to the NM designation, yet we were never contacted.

Why not have a Pro and Con debate which would stimulate REAL learning rather than more bias on the side of "feel good" environmental fantasy land.

I would suggest to those who manage the programs that when you book speakers for current local issues that you present a balance of views to be fair to the people who pay taxes to support the program.

I expect more of an educational institution.
