Man identified from Camp Verde house fire

CAMP VERDE -- An autopsy, completed Sunday, has officially identified the man found after suppression of a house fire in Verde Lakes Estates last Monday

The home in the 3800 block of Clinton Lane was already fully-ablaze as fire crews from the Copper Canyon Fire and Medical arrived just before 8 p.m. Aug. 8.

The body of an unidentified man was recovered after the fire was extinguished. The Camp Verde Marshal's Office was alerted as well as the Bureau of Tobacco, Alcohol and Firearms.

The Medical Examiner said the victim was a 58-year old Camp Verde man.

The ME also found that the man had actually died from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head before being consumed by fire.

The Medical Examiner has ruled the death a suicide.

He was the owner of the property, which the County Assessor identified as a mobile home in poor condition.

The property taxes were delinquent.
