VERDE VALLEY - Monday, drivers expecting to enter northbound Interstate 17 from Camp Verde exit 287 may want to make alternate plans. According to ADOT, the on-ramp from SR 260 to northbound Interstate 17 will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon May 23 to accommodate paving and bridge work.
As an alternate, drivers may travel Montezuma Castle Highway northbound to enter Interstate 17 northbound from the Middle Verde Road exit 289.
Northbound traffic on Interstate 17 will continue to be restricted to one lane between MP 287 and 288 as road crews complete work on the Verde River bridge project, which is expected to be completed by 6 p.m. that day. Until then, vehicles wider than 12 feet will be detoured off Interstate 17 at Exit 287, onto SR 260 west to SR 89A north to Sedona, continuing to SR 179 south through the Village of Oak Creek and returning to Interstate 17 northbound via Exit 298.
ADOT is asking motorists to observe reduced speed limits and allow for extra travel time while traveling through the work zone.
