CAMP VERDE - The Yavapai-Apache Nation's Cliff Castle Casino celebrates its 21st Anniversary this month.
The casino, which has been voted "Best Casino" in Arizona for 17 consecutive years by Arizona Business Magazine's "Ranking Arizona," is commemorating the event by awarding guests over $50,000 in cash and prize from May 2 to May 28.
Cliff Castle Casino opened in 1995 after Proposition 201 authorized Indian Gaming in Arizona. Over the years, the facility has expanded to its current 114,000 square feet and now records over 1.4 million guests annually. Along with gaming, the facility offers several dining and entertainment venues, as well as a family arcade, a 20-lane bowling alley and childcare services.
The financial impact of the casino has spilled-over into neighboring communities. Over $1.5 million has been shared by the casino with the neighboring communities of Camp Verde, Clarkdale, Cottonwood, Jerome, Rimrock and Sedona. Non-profits including Big Brothers / Big Sisters, Humane Society, Verde Valley Sanctuary and Yavapai Food Council have also benefited from over $150,000 in casino donations.
Since opening the casino, the Nation has also launched additional tribal enterprises, such as Distant Drums RV Resort, The Lodge at Cliff Castle, The Marketplace and Yavapai-Apache Sand and Rock. A new 122-room luxury hotel is scheduled to open Jan. 1, 2017.
