Wednesday, Sept. 28, representatives from PathfinderHealth ACO presented Elaine Bremner, executive director, with a substantial donation of $13,738.00 in support of the programs provided by the Verde Valley Senior Center to all communities of this area.
PathfinderHealth is a patient-focused, physician-led, primary care-driven collaborative between physicians and Northern Arizona Healthcare (NAH). The donation was made from a Special Projects Fund designed to support population health activities that assist in the better health of our community.
The Verde Valley Senior Center is a volunteer driven, 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporations and is a lifeline to hundreds of elderly residents in all communities of the Verde Valley. During the past year, the Senior Center provided more than 60,000 hot, nutritious lunches in a congregate setting and to home-bound elderly residents.
"Good nutrition is the foundation of health, regardless of age" quoted Elaine Bremner. Research shows that older adults who participate in senior center programs can learn to manage and delay the onset of chronic disease and experience measurable improvements in their physical, social, spiritual, emotional, mental and economic well-being, and prevent isolation.
In attendance for the presentation was Sam Blom, V.V. Senior Center Board President; Ana Ortega, Physician Liaison, NAH; Elaine Bremner, Executive Director, VV Senior Center; Celeste Scalf, P.A., NAH-VVMC; and Chris Nez, Field Operations Supervisor, NAH.
