Camp Verde outside linebacker and fullback Ryan Cain has bought into interim coach Jerome Rhoades’ new system. This system of power I football has featured him as a lead blocker and a receiver out of the backfield.

Cain adds the thump at the line of scrimmage to open up holes for Ryan Loza or Dominiq Bruno. In the last game against Parker, he was featured in the Bugle for a catch he made.

Not only have the Cowboys turned their season around, but Cain’s senior class stands one victory away from having the most wins his class has had in the last four season. If they win out in the next two games, they will finish with a .500 record.

Camp Verde Bugle: How is the season different from last year?

Cain: I think the coaching has been more aggressive than in the past.

Camp Verde Bugle: You didn’t play last year, why play this year?

Cain: It was my last year, and I had to come out and play.

Camp Verde Bugle: Is it different since coach Rhoades has taken over?

Cain: I think it has been more aggressive, and the team has more drive and energy than in the past.

Camp Verde Bugle: Best memory?

Cain: Scoring my first touchdown against Mohave Accelerated last game.

Camp Verde Bugle: What play was that?

Cain: It was an isolation right up the middle, and I ran it five yards for the touchdown, and I didn’t get touched.

Camp Verde Bugle: What would it mean to finish .500?

Cain: That is our ultimate goal to win out the season, and be .500 on the season.

Camp Verde Bugle: How has it changed for you guys in the last few weeks?

Cain: Conditioning has been the key. We bring the water onto the field and drink between sprints.

Camp Verde Bugle: What are your plans after high school?

Cain: I have been accepted to Arizona State University. I would like to study Business Marketing.

Camp Verde Bugle: Your last home game what do you think that is going to be like?

Cain: I think it is going to be emotional. We have really come together this season and gotten close. We have a lot of close friends; it is going to be the last time to play together on this field.
