Gallery: Boom Boom Statue Unveiling

Out of Africa Wildlife Park opened for a special evening reception on Thursday to celebrate Boom Boom, their 5,000 lb rhino who passed away from cancer in March of this year. Cemrock, a Tucson based company, donated a new life-sized statue of Boom Boom that was unveiled for the first time at the event. Operations liaison Al Raitano, African Bush Safari Manager Courtney Palmer and Out of Africa founder Dean Harrison all spoke eloquently about the white rhinoceros who was a popular and well-loved member of the animal family at the park. There was a buffet dinner and a remarkably detailed cake made in Boom Boom's likeness for guests to enjoy at the invitation only reception.
