Western Apache flute player Don Decker spent Saturday morning and afternoon, December 28, at Montezuma Castle National Monument, Camp Verde, showing how the Dilzhe'e, or Western Apache people, made traditional reed flutes. Visitors to the national park had the opportunity to craft their own flutes from bamboo under the direction of Decker, while materials remained. Each flute made was truly a functional work of art, with both its own unique tone and appearance.
