Camp Verde Cornfest got off to a brisk start on Friday afternoon under mostly sunny skies, a contrast to last year's first day that was plagued by sudden showers that all but closed down the opening day festivities. Sponsored by Camp Verde Promotions, the event draws folk from all around the state to sample some of the most delicious roasted and buttered corn-on-the-cob around, fresh from local Hauser Farm. There are always a multitude of kid-friendly games and attractions at the festival. Scattered around the park were craft and food vendors, as well as public service and demonstration booths such as the Verde Valley Optimists Club, Camp Verde Fire Auxiliary and the Cottonwood Flywheelers.
