Have you seen all the big red banners, stating that Sylvia Allen cut millions from Cottonwood-Oak Creek and Camp Verde school districts? My, what power.
In an article published by the Verde Independent under the ‘Letter to the Editor’ on June 28, 2018, Kerry Olson from Clarkdale said, “I have been paying property taxes to Yavapai College now for 40 years. Why in the world do they continually raise taxes in our neck of the woods, and provide less services?”
As a resident of the Verde Valley, I am a bit confused on the repeated statement of “let the voters decide” when it comes to school consolidation.
For the record, yes, Abraham Lincoln, when nominated and elected President of the United States in 1860, was a Republican, and, in fact, was the leader of the Moderate faction of the Republican Party.
All the folks who brought the 24-Hour Comic Challenge to Clarkdale last weekend deserve a big hand.
I want to thank Phil Dirksen and John Sherman for taking the time to share their thoughts about how the Clarkdale Town Council is handling the unique situations surrounding the resignation of Ben Kramer from our Council.
In this great country we used to be innocent until proven guilty but not with Judge Kavanaugh.
Any economic, political or social system that includes humans in it will always be imperfect.
In Swahili, we say it was “poto-poto”, a big muddy mess! The newest member of the council, appointed some months ago to fill a vacated position resigned.
I am writing to say that I am strongly opposed to any diversion of traffic or development of Verde Valley School Road in the Village of Oak Creek.
Thanks for the recent front page article (Sept. 23, “From Farm to Mug for Beer”) about a local effort of some farmers planting barley instead of other crops win effort to save water from the Verde River, save their family-owned farms, and support local breweries.
The primary election was August 28th, 2018. Winning candidate Ben Kramer announced on September 7th, 2018 he would not take the oath of office, and was placing his name in the running for the new Clarkdale Town Manager’s position.
We will stand behind you if you will work to find ways to live within our city budget rather than looking for ways to raise taxes to cover budget busting spending as was done with the recently proposed 0.5 percent tax increase.
This is a lame excuse by tax policy makers and I hope they become much more engaged in finding other sources of revenue for street repairs than to simply “sock it to the property owners.”
I am increasingly saddened and dismayed to hear and read the discussion about the consolidation of our school system. To me, the crux of the argument is about the disparity in the salary structure between the high school and elementary schools. How unfair can this be?
Recently (August 9) The Verde Independent printed a letter about the failure of socialism. The writer presented the Soviet Union, Cuba, Venezuela, & North Korea as proof of socialism’s failure. With the exception of Venezuela, the examples of the evils and failure of socialism are communist countries. What the writer didn’t make clear is that communism is an extreme version of socialism.
The gross negligence of the law that this President showed prior to and since his election makes him more fit for federal jail than the White House.
I would like to ask Mr Trump to add my name to the list of American Patriots who have spoken up against his presidency and are, therefore, denied security clearance.
It’s time for all us to ask some simple questions about the Mingus Union School Board and their approval to officially proceed with the lawsuit against the Committee for Better Upper Verde Valley Schools. Is this to show us we must all follow the letter of the law? If so is the letter of the law followed by this board?
The United States of America is hated by numerous nations and groups. That’s certainly no surprise, and I need not delineate the myriad culprits. But our greatest enemy – and one that the mainstream media ignores – is not without, it is within. Our greatest enemy is us, or to be more precise, the “us” that teeters ever more not just Lefter and Lefter but into the dangerous miasma of socialism and its eventuation into communism and totalitarianism.
This letter is in response to one which appeared recently in which the writer alleged that most political demonstrations were and are instigated and financed by various left-wing organizations. I can not remain silent under that old-saw, right-wing attack.
