2018 Camp Verde Patriot Day remembrance

Tuesday, American Legion Post 93 Camp Verde the 17th annual Patriot Day ceremony to remember the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The remembrance, held at the Camp Verde Ramada on Hollamon Street, included various presentations by the Legion, including the Striking of the Four Fives by the Copper Canyon Fire and Medical Authority, Posting and Retrieval of the Colors - and the rifle salute - by the American Legion Post 93 Color Guards, Rifle Salute, as well as remarks by Legion Commander Kenneth McPherson, as well as Camp Verde Mayor Charlie German, Deputy Mike Jardine of the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office, Copper Canyon Fire Chief Terry Keller, Legion Auxiliary Unit President Suzan Bruce, Sons of the Legion Squadron 93 2nd Vice Henry Ellison, American Legion Riders Director Bill Gay, Legion Auxiliary Chaplain Karen Mealey. Mealey also sang the National Anthem. Copper Canyon Fire also conducted the Bell Toll 11 times. Dr. Ronald Wright played Taps, and the benediction was performed by Gordon Kelsey. Following the hour-long remembrance, Legion Post 93 held a pot luck luncheon at the Legion, located at 276 S. 3rd St. VVN/Bill Helm
