2018 Camp Verde High School graduation

Thursday, Camp Verde High School’s Class of 2018 graduated on the Sam Hammerstrom football field, as the student-led ceremony included various introductions, awards recognitions, student speakers, the Camp Verde High School choir, an introduction of the 24 12-year seniors who attended Beaver Creek and/or Camp Verde schools since first grade – as well as the presentation of the graduation class, as 81 seniors – including students from the district’s accommodation school – received their diplomas. 2018 Beaver Creek School promotions

Wednesday, Beaver Creek School promoted 42 students in the school's multi-purpose building. After the academic awards presentations, special words, the song and rose ceremony, and speeches by Valedictorian Jaden Daniel and salutatorian KeLeeMae Leitner, Beaver Creek School District Superintendent Karin Ward and Principal Katrina Sacco presented the diplomas, along with BCSD Governing Board members Jacqueline Harshman, Karen DuFresne and Perry Krowne. The promotion ceremony ended with the school’s traditional dance back down the aisle. Attendees then attended a reception in the cafeteria before graduates then danced in the gym until 10 p.m. (Photos by Bill Helm)

Verde View Senior Apartments celebration

Wednesday, Verde View Senior Apartments celebrated the 55th anniversary of its parent company, Retirement Housing Foundation, also known as RHF. Verde View Senior Apartments, located on SR 260 in Camp Verde, opened in 1991. The celebration included presentations by the company’s president and CEO, as well as Camp Verde Mayor Charlie German, Camp Verdean and historical presenter Ed Lee, and others. Teachers walk out of Camp Verde, Beaver Creek Schools

Wednesday afternoon across from Camp Verde’s Walgreens, then Thursday morning in front of Camp Verde Town Hall, Camp Verde and Beaver Creek educators seek reform of the state’s education funding mechanism. Educators Verde Valley-wide have joined educators from across the state in Thursday’s walk-out, with the majority of the area’s schools closed, but prepared to reopen on their next scheduled day. Spring is in the air at Slide Rock State Park in Sedona as the apple trees are in bloom. The apple farm is one of the few homesteads still preserved in Oak Creek Canyon, according to the state park. 2018 Trek for Tech in Beaver Creek

March 24 marked the fifth annual Trek for Tech in Beaver Creek. Sponsored by the Friends of the Beaver Creek Library, this year’s event raised more than $2,000, with 60 participants walking and/or running either a 5K or 10K course. With 11 sponsors this year who each donated at least $100 in money or in-kind services for event-related prizes.
