Police are searching for a man who robbed a Cottonwood gas station attendant at gunpoint Saturday.
The robbery occurred at the Arco station in the 800 block of South Main Street about 3 a.m.
According to the attendant, the man walked through the open back door, pointed the gun at him and demanded money from the cash register, Cottonwood police said. After being given the cash, the man ran out the back door. It is not clear how much money was stolen.
A search of the area near the gas station was conducted but nothing was found, police said.
According to the attendant, the robber was at least 6-feet tall and wore black boots, black pants, a black leather jacket and a black cotton cap pulled over his face with the eye holes cut out.
The case is still under investigation.
Camp Verde men arrested for car theft
The Camp Verde Marshal’s Office arrested two Camp Verde men for allegedly stealing a car from the garage of a Cottonwood resident Saturday morning.
Jaren Troy David Lamb, 21, and Lee Walter Danner, 23, were arrested at the Camp Verde Circle K store about 4 a.m. after allegedly stealing a GMC Suburban, police said. The GMC was stolen from a home in the 1000 block of Pioneer Road.
According to Cottonwood police, the owner of the vehicle heard his garage door being opened about 3 a.m. and when he went to the garage he observed his Suburban being driven away.
After the car was discovered at the Circle K and the two men arrested, police also reported several other vehicles near the Pioneer Road area had been broken into and several identification and credit cards had been stolen. A stolen vehicle from Las Vegas that had early been abandon by Lamb and Danner was also found in the same area, police said.
Both men face charges of burglary, theft and credit card fraud. They were incarcerated at the Yavapai County Jail in Camp Verde.
14-year-old arrested for car thefts
A 14-year-old Camp Verde boy is in the Yavapai County Juvenile Detention Center in Prescott after Camp Verde marshal’s deputies recovered two stolen vehicles in his possession Monday.
James Leon Baker was arrested shortly after midnight in the area of Bice Road where a stolen 1974 orange Honda Civic was found, CVMO spokeswoman Wendy Escoffier said. Baker was reportedly driving a stolen Buick Century when he was arrested.
Authorities had been notified earlier of a juvenile driving a Honda that matched the description of a car stolen from the Outpost Shopping mall at 3:30 p.m., Escoffier said. A deputy and a tow truck driver were removing the Honda from where it had been abandoned when the deputy spotted Baker trying to leave the area in the Buick.
The owners of both cars were notified of the recoveries.
Backward car chase ends in Sedona woman’s arrest
A Sedona Woman was arrested Saturday after leading Yavapai County sheriff’s deputies on a short car chase through the streets of the Village of Oak Creek, in reverse.
Roxanne Weeks, 47, was arrested about 10:30 a.m. on Verde Valley School Road on felony charges of unlawful flight, endangerment, theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal damage, resisting arrest and on an outstanding warrant for fraudulent schemes.
The chase began when Weeks was spotted by a sheriff’s deputy as she pulled into an apartment complex on Sugarloaf Road, YCSO spokeswoman Sharon Wachter said.
As the deputy approached the vehicle, Weeks put her car into reverse and drove backward through the intersection at Bell Rock Boulevard and on to north Sugarloaf Road where she smashed into a miniature bridge in someone’s front yard, Wachter said.
Weeks then put the car in drive, drove through a ditch and eventually headed west down Verde Valley School Road. She was captured by police when she abandon the car on the dirt road and attempted to run.
Weeks was incarcerated in the Yavapai County Jail in Camp Verde.
Police were unable to locate Weeks' son who had exited the car at the apartment complex and may have been knocked down as Week’s backed out of the complex.
CV teen flown to Phoenix hospital after crash
A 15-year-old Camp Verde boy was flown to John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix after the car he was driving flipped over near Middle Verde Reservation Friday.
The crash occurred at 4:55 p.m.
According to Verde Rural Fire Department, the teen suffered possible back injuries and was airlifted to John C. Lincoln at the request of the hospital.
