CAMP VERDE - Wednesday, Camp Verde Town Council voted to not spend $106,000 on solar and landscaping on the town's new library.
Council decided instead to spend the money on shelving.
Before the unanimous vote, Camp Verde Community Library Director Kathy Hellman told council that the shelving was a greater priority and worth the shift of funds.
Solar and landscaping could be added at a later date, she also said. Hellman also said that she wants to get the community involved in the landscaping process.
Hellman also told council that construction workers are having difficulty with paving the second story floor because the weather has been so cold. They will need to pave that floor until it is warmer at night. For now, crews can work on other parts of the library.
"It will be exciting for people to come to the library in 10 to 20 years and say 'I planted that tree.' We just want to get people involved in this event," said Hellman.
